Carving through the Scottish Lowlands, the recently restored Forth & Clyde and Union canals are linked by the awesome Falkirk Wheel. It is from the basin below the wheel that your holiday begins, heading either through the Wheel and east to Edinburgh or travel West to Glasgow .
A mobile phone is a must to pre-book passage through the locks and bridges, which are all manned by British Waterways Staff.
Visit either city in a short break or both in a week.
If you prefer not to drive, budget airlines fly into either Edinburgh or Glasgow, with train or coach connections to Falkirk .

The Llangollen Canal skips along the Welsh Border before heading towards the stunning landscape of the foothills of Snowdon.
Often narrow and winding, this contour canal has few locks, but progress is at a stately pace.

In favourable weather you can cruise by river (the Severn and the Avon) all the way to Stratford - Shakespeare country.
A variety of short break options include cruising by canal, river, or a combination of them both.
Based near the heart of the city of Worcester in the 19th Century ' Port of Lowesmoor ', our Worcester base has excellent road links via the M5 and a railway station 800yds away.
